Right I'll get this quip out my system, Work Drugs are addictive...I'm here all week, cheers. Benjamin Louisiana and Thomas Crystal (coolest names) bring us 'smooth-fi', the latest hybrid of foggy, mellow fun. There's an abundance of sea references that wash throughout their music and create a whimsical vibe that transcends this era.

First off, where are you in the world right now and what're you working on?
Right now, i write this on my new ipad - scouting locations for our next video, somewhere between THE Salton Sea and Joshua Tree -

Could you give a brief Work Drugs history?
Work Drugs have been playing music for years, in countless dusty beachside bars and rat trap hideways along the Jersey Shore - but started recording properly in 2010, soon there after, we were asked to go on a tour of North America with Two Door Cinema Club in April 2011 - which was fun! - since then we've played a variety of bigger venue shows and released songs and videos, when we feel we have new stuff to share.

Who did you grow up listening to?
Whatever was on those old maxell mix tapes we kept on the boat, usually an eclectic mix artists such as Sam Cooke, The Shirelles, to Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers, plus a million things in between.

Tell us a bit about the most recent song you've written.
I just finished writing a song that is about personal loss, and ultimately redemption.

What's the strangest subject you've ever written a song about?
In general we ask a lot of questions in our music, which road should be taken? What do we do when we get there? Its hard to say which song is strange - in terms of subject matter, i'll leave that to the audience.

What would you say was the perfect environment or situation to listen to your music in?
Dusk, sub tropical climate, cold drink, good vibes

What other artists are you into at the moment?
We are really enjoying the Darcys - Aja cover album they did, speaking of cover albums - bird and the bee did a great hall and oates cover album a couple years back that is also incred.

Where would you love to tour?
We'd love to do a European Tour - all points.

Finally, what's next for you, future plans and such?
We are working on finishing the new album , which should be out by late summer, and we are prepping for a one off show at Kung Fu Necktie in Philadelphia, April 28th.

Have a listen to this cover of JUSTBEAPERSON pal, Summer Heart.
