It's a great time to be Michele Stodart, whilst also being a part of successful folk favourites, The Magic Numbers, she is forging her own solo career and with sweet, soulful sentiments, her forthcoming album looks set to be delightful.

First off, where are you in the world right now and what're you working on?
I'm working on some new songs at home in London.

Who did you grow up listening to?
Pretty much all of our family's old records - Patsy Cline, The Carpenters, Hank Williams, Connie Francis, Burt Bacharach. There is always someone singing in our house.

Tell us a bit about your latest single 'Foolish Love'
'Foolish Love' is one of those songs that says exactly what I wanted to say to someone a long time ago but couldn't. Instead, I put every word into this song.

What's the strangest subject you've ever written a song about?
I tend to write from personal experiences though 'Dead on the Water', (side b to my latest single) is about the ghost of a woman scorned who comes back to haunt her lovers.

What would you say was the perfect environment or situation to listen to your music in?
oh, That's a hard question - I'd have to say in silence?

What other artists are you into at the moment?
I'm always the last to hear about a new record… though I recently bought the new First Aid Kit album and fell in love with it straight away!

Is there anywhere specific you'd love to tour?
We've always said we'd like to tour the Caribbean - somewhere on the beach sipping cocktails and jamming the night away.
But failing that i'd love to spend a year or two touring the states - I always had a dream of riding the Greyhound bus with my acoustic guitar.

Finally, what's next for you, future plans and such?
Releasing the album and playing as much as possible with my new band, who are amazing guys and such good musicians. I've so many ideas of things i'd like to do… possibly a little EP at the end of the year. Then there's a tonne of new songs to record for the next album… it's all very exciting at the moment.
